Enterprise Mobility Strategy

The modern enterprise workforce is increasingly mobile and the trends indicate this will increase over time. While away from the office the remote worker expects access to all of the same sets of services and applications as if they were sitting back in their home office. In addition, the use of other mobility hardware such as smartphones and PDAs are also increasing. Burton Group consultants can provide the guidance to assist in the development of your enterprise mobility architecture to securely provide network access to your travelling workforce.

Burton Group begins this engagement by capturing information sufficient to document the existing mobility deployments and to document business requirements for mobility. Burton Group expects to interview key business and technical stakeholders within the organization. The key areas to be discussed in include:

  • Business requirements
  • Existing services
  • Mobility issues
  • Wireless transport services
  • Mobile devices and device management
  • Security
  • Mobile applications
  • Voice Strategy and fixed mobile convergence

This component of the engagement is completed during a 2-day on-site visit. Burton Group will arrange interviews in conjunction with guidance provided by the client. Burton Group anticipates interviewing between 10-15 individuals depending on specific customer requirements.

Following our discovery process Burton Group would conduct a 2-day mobility architecture and strategy workshop to develop a mobility architecture and strategy to meet the enterprise business requirements. Burton Group would prepare and deliver a document capturing the decisions made in this workshop. Contents of the deliverable would include:

  • Mobility Requirements
  • Device Types
  • Device Management
  • Security
  • Implementation Strategy
  • Recommendations

The duration of this engagement is typically between 3 and 4 weeks.
